Represented the 13,000+ undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at Wright State University. I was the first sophomore to be elected to serve as Vice-President, a position I held for 2 years before being elected to serve as President my senior year.
As President, I coordinated the activities of 25 paid members, 22 Freshman Interns, and 20 Committee members; acted as the representative of the Student Body at official university functions; represented student interests and acted as a conduit of information from SGA to the student body; effectively managed a budget of over $120,000; crafted a legislative agenda and testified on higher education related bills at the statehouse; partnered with faculty and staff senate on a resolution to make election day a university holiday; and led other successful projects including the formation of a new full-time Office of Retention, a $100,000 NPHC Plot Project, and multiple endowed scholarships.
Navigated and led our student body through both a faculty strike and an international pandemic.
Co-founded this initiative aimed at addressing the disparity in retention rates between minority students and the rest of the university.
In one year resulted in a 4% (+374) increase in retention and the addition of a new office of retention with four full-time and eight part-time positions.
Developed a unique “Student X” model that identifies students unlikely to be retained.
Established a new endowed scholarship under the initiative to support 3 students yearly.
